Upon our initial visit, we observed a magnificent historical townhouse with an impressive ornamental ceiling that exuded grandeur. But at the same time, we noticed a lot of large empty spaces that just didn’t feel very welcoming. It was as if the house lacked a soul. We felt that this historical townhouse deserved to be rebuilt into a warm family home while adhering to the original character and architectural style of the building.

First, we got the layout right and we improved the flow of the living spaces. Each room now offers a unique atmosphere and functionality. The property comprises four floors, spread over an area of 379m2. Bespoke design transformed every room into a comfortable and welcoming space that truly celebrates the clients’ lifestyle. Our aim was to create an inviting home by softening the interior with a blend of layered materials, color tones, and rich textures throughout the house. The surprising and innovative lighting plan that we developed for this project significantly impacts the ambiance. We worked with various heights and incorporated smart solutions into an array of custom-made furniture pieces.

The lower floor is designed for entertaining guests with a modern kitchen that opens directly onto the garden, a spacious dining area, and a comfortable living room for the kids. The first floor serves as a personal sanctuary for the family and features a large living room, a dining room, and a smaller second kitchen. Both fireplaces are custom designed for the client. The unfilled travertine we sourced evokes a raw aesthetic, but channels softness at the same time with its warm ivory hue. The clean lines of the mantels provide the house with a modern aesthetic that contrasts with the heritage elements we have retained, such as the ornaments and moldings.

The upper floors consist of three bedrooms, a functional kids’ bathroom, a spacious one-of-a-kind walk-in closet with large-size built-in wardrobes, and a calming wellness bathroom designed for long relaxing soaks and spa-like routines. After a two-and-a-half-year journey, which began with the design phase and concluded with comprehensive construction supervision, we also provided styling services to ensure that the home exuded the serene and warm atmosphere we had envisioned from the beginning.
